ABOUT THE SES

The Spokane Enological Society (SES) is a 501(c)(7) nonprofit social organization for people who enjoy wine and want to learn more about it—through tastings, events, and shared experiences with others. The SES is essentially a local, nonprofit wine “club” centered on learning about wine through tasting, education, and social experiences. At its heart, the Spokane Enological Society exists to help people expand their knowledge and appreciation of wine. It focuses on hands-on learning, especially by tasting and comparing wines. The SES traces its roots back to 1977, when it began as a chapter of a Seattle wine society. It later became an independent organization in the mid-1980s. The mission of the SES remains the same, emphasizing education, enjoyment, and responsible consumption of wine. We welcome people at all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned wine enthusiasts. Members take part in a variety of social and educational activities, including guided wine tastings (often themed by region, grape, or style), blind tastings to objectively evaluate wines, educational talks from wine experts and industry guests, and special events like anniversary dinners, holiday dinners, and winery visits. These events are designed to be both fun and informative, blending social interaction with learning.
